Deirdre on reading, writing and living - Charles and "Clarissa" Day Six

Jul. 20th, 2007 07:01 pm Charles and "Clarissa" Day Six

For the first time in six days, Charles confessed that he wished he was doing something besides reading. He's on day six of the Clarissa marathon. Today he must cover 254 pages. He's reading at a rate of 20 pages per hour. Keep in mind, these are large pages. (He has a photo of the Penguin Edition of Clarissa on his spoiler-filled blog.)

So, he must read for roughly twelve and a half hours today to make his "quota," otherwise known as Volume 6. What's worse is that tomorrow's goal is to read 276 pages. Only a madman could read for 14 hours straight, after reading for eight, ten, and twelve hours per day for the last week.

I told him that he wasn't even allowed to read the "crawl" on the bottom of Headline News on Sunday. We may buy the NY Times, but he can't touch it.

I'm afraid his brain will explode.

Current Mood: giddy

My goodness. I can't even imagine reading that much in a week. What's the prize?

Excellent question. I guess it's bragging and a stiff back.

ROFL!!! I remember when I was an avid reader. I'd polish off a book in no time flat. I'd read while getting dressed, while in the bathtub, in the kitchen cooking dinner, stopped at a red light and even walking up the street. Thinking back I really was quite insane. Haha.
